“Perseverance is a great element of success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

HVAF’s Employment Services Team!
Last week, HVAF proudly hosted one of our largest veteran job fairs yet! The event served as a critical bridge between Indianapolis’ veterans and promising careers, exemplifying our commitment to empowering those who served to achieve stability and success.
With 39 veterans attending the event, (the biggest turnout in four years!), it was truly a day of connection and possibility.

Community Business’ participating in event!
During the job fair, veterans were able to sit down with representatives from four reputable companies, including Kroger Bakery, Volomod, Eskenazi Health, and Planes. Each organization shared not just job openings but a willingness to understand the unique experiences and strengths veterans bring to the workforce. Many attendees left with interviews lined up, new connections, and a renewed sense of confidence!
Gainful, steady employment is more than just a paycheck; it’s a necessity for rebuilding a sense of purpose, stability, and independence. For veterans who have endured the challenges of homelessness or transitional periods, securing a job is a monumental step in their journey to reclaiming their lives.
This focus is crucial because in Indianapolis alone, approximately 1 in 10 individuals experiencing homelessness is a veteran. It’s a sobering statistic that underscores just how vital it is to create opportunities for these brave men and women to thrive. Stable employment not only helps veterans afford housing and necessities but also provides structure and community, which are invaluable to their long-term success.
At HVAF, we understand that finding a job is just one piece of the puzzle. That’s why we offer wraparound support services designed to assist veterans as they transition to stability, including housing programs, job readiness training, and mental health services. These programs work together to ensure our veterans build a foundation of resilience and confidence so they can excel in both their personal and professional lives.
Events like last week’s job fair amplify the impact of these services, connecting veterans not just to employment but to the community that supports them every step of the way.
Thank you for being part of our mission and allowing events like these to happen. Please know that you are directly helping veterans get back on their feet and empowering them to pursue new chapters of their lives with dignity and purpose.
