HVAF’s Outreach program specifically addresses the immediate needs of homeless men and women living in Indianapolis’ shelters and on the streets. Each day, our outreach team goes into the community to let veterans know about HVAF. Once here, we provide outreach services to roughly 200 homeless individuals each week, including case management, housing referrals, food, and clothing. These services are designed to address the key issues that cause homelessness such as chemical dependency and mental illness. We are also able to provide other transportation support, like van transportation for medical appointments and access to other community resources.
In addition to our services to veterans, each Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30-3:30 p.m., any homeless veteran can come to HVAF to receive day-to-day necessities, such as toothpaste, brush, soap and other basic needs.
