Here are a few of the frequently asked questions about volunteering at HVAF:
Q. Is the online volunteer software difficult to use?
A. Not at all. It’s very user-friendly, especially the online application form you will need to fill out prior to your first visit. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Rachel Anderson at email@example.com or 317-951-0688.
Q. Is there a minimum number of volunteer hours required?
A. There is no formal minimum, but we ask that volunteers come in at least once a month.
Q. Is there a volunteer orientation?
A. No. You will be greeted by staff on your first visit and given instruction about your assignment. You will also be introduced to our online sign-in program, which you will utilize on future visits.
Q. Are there opportunities available for teens?
A. Yes, however, all volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer in the production kitchen because of our insurance regulations. Occasionally, we have opportunities for younger teens as long as there are adult volunteers working with them.
Q. Can my group volunteer for a one-time event?
A. Yes. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Rachel Anderson, to set up an opportunity for your group: firstname.lastname@example.org or 317-951-0688.
Q. What do I wear to volunteer?
A. Long pants (jeans are fine), shirt with sleeves (t-shirts are fine, no tank tops), closed-toed, non-skid shoes (tennis shoes are fine) and a hat (baseball cap or something to cover your hair). You are a representative of HVAF when you’re volunteering for us, so we ask that you respect our clothing policies, which are detailed in our Volunteer Handbook.
